Edgar Allen Poe wrote an alternative end to the book with a 1002nd night. In it, Schezerade tells a story so absurd (and yet based on scientific experiments and such) that the Sultan kills her anyhow. Poe says the real ending is to be found in the book Tellmenow Isitsoornot, which is extr.rare and almost unknown.
